Use the form below for appointment, referral, research and consulting inquiries. Your message goes directly to the office and no email address is shown on this site. For urgent matters call 604-759-2140. In an emergency call 911.
A printable first-visit questionnaire is available on request from the office. Please complete it before your appointment and bring it with you or fax it to 604-909-1827. Please do not email completed health questionnaires, because standard email is not secure.
Seek emergency care immediately (call 911) for sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness on one side, facial droop, difficulty speaking, sudden vision loss, seizure, or loss of consciousness.
This notice explains how artificial intelligence (AI) and call recording may be used in this practice. It supplements, and does not replace, the discussion and consent you will be offered at your visit or call.
Your consent comes first. I will ask for your permission before an AI scribe is used. You may say no, or withdraw consent at any time, including during the visit, and your care will not change. I will then take notes myself. Anyone accompanying you will also be asked for permission.
How it works. The tool SCRIBERRY listens to the conversation and drafts a note. I review and correct every note before it is added to your record. The tool does not make clinical decisions. I remain responsible for your record and your care.
Risks. Digital processing carries privacy risks. AI can also make mistakes, such as missing details or mishearing names, medications and diagnoses. This is why every note is reviewed by me.
Audio and storage. Audio is deleted after the note is created. Data is stored in Canada. Your information is not sold, and is not used to train AI models.
Calls to the office may be recorded or transcribed using the RingCentral cloud phone system for accuracy of messages and records. You will be told at the start of the call. Please say so if you prefer not to be recorded, and the call can continue without recording or you can visit the office instead.
RingCentral processes call data on behalf of this office. Its privacy notice states that it may use AI technology to produce summaries from recordings and that information may be processed in other countries.
Consent. The office texts only patients who have given consent, for example by providing a mobile number and agreeing to be contacted by text, or by texting the office first. Consent is recorded in your chart. Text messages are used for: appointment reminders and scheduling only, not for advertising.
Opting out. Reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE) to any text to stop receiving messages from the office number. This applies to that number, and you can opt back in by texting START. You can also tell the office by phone or in person, and your care will not change.
Security. Standard text messages are not encrypted and may pass through your mobile carrier and the RingCentral messaging service. Please do not send symptoms, test results or other health information by text, and do not use text for urgent matters. In an emergency call 911.
Delivery. Wireless carriers can filter or block messages, so a text may not arrive. Please do not rely on text messages alone for appointment times, and call the office if you are unsure.
Records. Message content and phone numbers are handled under the same privacy rules as the rest of your record. RingCentral states that it does not share phone numbers with third parties so that they can send text messages.
Personal health information is handled under British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). You may ask to see or correct your records, decline or withdraw consent, and raise a concern with this office or with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC. Records are kept only as long as needed and are securely destroyed afterward. The physician acts as the privacy officer for this practice; please use the contact form or call the office.
This approach reflects guidance from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia on artificial intelligence, the Canadian Medical Protective Association on AI scribes, the OIPC BC guidance on AI scribes, and the Doctors of BC Physician Privacy Toolkit.
